Dear newly admitted Civil Engineering international and Overseas students,
We know this global pandemic makes application for a VISA and purchase of a flight ticket difficult. Some of you are even pondering on whether or not to study abroad because of quarantine fees (2,800 NT$/day; a total of 42,000 NT$ for 15 days).
To help cover partial quarantine fees, our Department has raised a fund of 1,000 NT$ per day for every new Civil Engineering international and Overseas student. Those who are permitted to enter Taiwan, will start your studies from Fall Semester 2020, and would fulfill your quarantine according to the regulations will be able to claim this fund, which is amounted to 15,000 NT$ per person. There is no guarantee that we would have this fund for next semester’s intake.
Besides, NTU also offers Quarantine Subsidies for International Students. The subsidy is 500 NT$/day, with a proof of low-income household issued by recognized authorities. This announcement is as attached and has been sent to you by the Office of International Affairs a couple of days ago.
For possible government coverage, please refer to the website of the Ministry of Health and Welfare at https://swis.mohw.gov.tw/
We hope the above information would release some of your financial burdens, and wish you and your family safe and healthy! See you soon!
